Rushing to the Air raid shelter in the school playground when the siren went off. Having my tonsils and adenoids out while there was an air raid in progress Eating a bag of Malteesers (spelling isn't be best point) in hospital when I was six - and there was an air raid on Going shopping with mum and leaving the back door unlocked Sleeping under the stairs at night while my dad was on fire watch duties Seeing my sister off at St Pancras railway station when she was called up in the ATS in 1942 Walking down the stationery escalator at Leicester Square Underground because mum and me were too scared to go on the moving one (in 1942)
Come on now -
I said I was old -
and you didn't believe me.
Well I am - but only on the outside; inside I'm barely 25!

That first kiss when I couldn't find her mouth because my mouth was up around her cheek somewhere That first meal at her parent's home and their quizzing of me about what career I wanted to follow That embarrasing time when I went into the gents toilets and .......... wait, I'm not telling you lot about that That time a girl smiled at me, and I went all goo-y and then she asked me to dance with her That time when I first took a girl out and I discovered things that I didn't know about girls before That embarrasment - and also that embarrasing time ---- and that other time that I went red all over

Feeling so I excited about christmas morning you felt sick Biting the corner off all the chocolates in a box of chocolates and only eating the ones you like and watching dad eat all the rest! Playing hide and seek for hours outside (never did find some people) Not worrying what I looked like in my swimming costume Magic Roundabout Busy Lizzie and Little Mo The Twinkle My Grampa Putting out the fishing lines in Morecambe Bay and then eating what we caught Going on holiday with Mum, Dad and my Sister
But, there are some good things about being grown up too, aren't there?
