Three more of my treasures - taken late afternoon yesterday: 1. "Dreamland" - possibly a Yak hybrid but I'm not sure; the indumentum on the leaves suggests it probably is; 2. "Frank Galsworthy" - nothing else like it; certainly the best purple Rhodie I've ever seen; took me several years to find one, after falling in love with it at Glendoick; 3. "Fantastica" - dwarf; very hardy and floriferous; considered by many to be one of the best dwarfs in recent years

I have no idea why they're doing so well ... must be the overall combination of sun, rain and temperature I guess

OK Shugs - do summat useful. I need a couple of rhodies which will stay reasonably small (no more than about 1m in each direction as they're going in a border. I rather like the creamy 'apple blossom' type colours, like your 'Dreamland' although your 'Fantastica' is a stunner, as I have red and purple azeleas in the garden already. Any recommendations? Will I get 'Fantastica' at Glendoick?....and what's it's final dimensions?

Will I get 'Fantastica' at Glendoick?....and what's it's final dimensions? Try Golden Torch for the creamy apple blossom colour - height about 3-4'. Fantastica is about 6'. Fantastica is available at Glendoick but Golden Torch is not on their online catalogue. It may be available at the Garden Centre - email them at gardencentre@glendoick.com - they're very helpful and will set one aside for you if they have one. My GT is just coming into flower - I'll post a piccie in a day or so. I'd also highly recommend Wine and Roses (about 4') - it's got bright pink flowers (not quite what you want) but the main feature is the maroon undersides of the leaves - quite a stunner. It's worthwhile having a look through the Glendoick online catalogue - not necessarily to buy but to find out what types are best for you. Click: www.glendoick.com/content.php?page=catalogue

I like the sound of 'Wine & Roses', the leaves should be colourful when nothing else is in bloom.

Looking at the Glendoick catalogue was not a good idea as I now have a list of about 12 that I'm going to have to thin down to 2.....or 3........or 4........or.........
