and I found it for £5 cheaper on Amazon!!
It arrived this morning..very pleased. (It was £5 cheaper because it didn't come with a waterproof cover!) Excellent value and really well made.

Well, I think the time has come to upgrade to a DSLR. I've got some photography jobs to do for work and the extra capabilites would be useful (well that's my excuse).
My current choice is the Pentax K20D. 14Mp and a really good price. Part of my thinking is that I've had Pentax before (my last film camera was/is an SFXn autofocus SLR), and have always got on well with them. My usual criteria of using SD cards applies - I've got plenty of them!
One thing I'm debating is which lenses to get. I can get one with the Pentax 18-55 lens for around £650. For a further £100 or so I can add either a Pentax 50-200 or a Tamron 70-300. Equally I've already got a reasonable 70-200 lens from my SFXn.
As the Tamron lens is only around £120 there's not much saving buying it at the same time as the rest. Has anyone used older SLR lenses on a digital? Any comments on doing so? I'm conscious that I did the same when I bought the autofocus SLR - I quickly replaced my old lens with a new (second-hand) one!
Also will the gap between 55 and 70 be a problem? I'm used to having a 35-70 and 70-200 on the old SLR so had a continuous run.
Any other comments would be welcome!

Glen I use a 70-200 film lens with my Sony A350 and am happy with the results. Try Googling your question as I found a site pretty well dedicated to just this.

I've always had Pentax, both film and DSLR. If you are considering using 35mm lenses on a DLSR, take them into a shop and try them on your chosen model before you buy - not all 35mm zoom lenses offer full frame capability on a digital camera. I've got a Pentax DLSR with the stock 18-55mm, also the Pentax 50-200mm, a Pentax 10-17mm fish-eye and a Sigma 170-500mm. The only thing I'm missing from the digital collection is a macro, but I'm hoping to remedy that shortly I've got a range of 35mm lenses that do physically fit my DSLR, but either don't support AF or start to "tube" when zoomed, so I chose to re-equip when I went digital. The K20D is a great model - I'm currently lusting after the K-7 But can I ask if you've considered whether you "need" the 14MP that the K20 offers? If you are not intending to print larger than A4, then the K10 will do just as well and be less expensive too, which will leave some money over for other toys

Thanks for the comments - that was really helpful.
In the end I've decided to order the K20D with the Pentax lenses (18-55 and 50-200). Like Ray I would love the K-7 but really couldn't justify the extra!
I decided that even if my old lenses did work I'd probably end up getting the digital ones - weight being one issue. That's also partly why I've gone for the Pentax zoom instead of the Tamron - I had a play this morning with a 450D with the latter and it's a big lens.
I did consider whether to drop down to the K10 but the price difference isn't that great, the reviews reckon the K20 is a lot better. The 14Mp isn't really necessary although it will be handy when doing the product photos for work.
I've added on a Metz flashgun, a backpack gadget bag and various other bits, so the whole order isn't cheap, but hopefully this will be the last camera I buy for a good few years!

Can I revive this old thread maybe? I think it was 2009 or so when I bought my pentax K100D Super. 'Only' 6MP but that's plenty for A4, or thereabouts, printing.
It came with the standard kit 18-55 zoom. And then I had my lenses I used to use with my 35mm P30T: a 35-80 zoom, my SMC f1.7 50mm, an 80-210 zoom, a Hoya f3.5 200mm and an SMC f3.5 125mm tele, plus I've inherited a couple of lenses from m'Dad.
I almost always shoot in raw and then process with Adobe Elements 6.0. I have the Alien Skin plugin which gives a pretty good emulation of a number of popular films (e.g. Ektachrome, Kodachrome, GAF, Ilford). For a 'first look' at new shots I use the rather excellent 'Faststone' program. I have a nice ruck-sack style bag from Jessops and a ten quid Aldi tripod.

Can I revive this old thread maybe? NO. not unless you're going to revive half dozen TOGS first.
