I would heartily recommend David Mitchell's "Black Swan Green". Marvellous read, I thought. It brought back the horridness of adolescence in such clear and funny detail, and has a touch of magic about it too.

Kalimera sharon Sharealike, yep Michael Connolly is a favorite holiday read also from the memsahib's organised catalogue try John Harvey 'Ash & Bone' for an english detective series. Philip Margolin american detective stories..Any thing by J Dever, H Coben, Louis De Berniers Capt. corelli & Birds Without wings (excellent informative Greek/Turkish slant) Rober Goddard, Steve Martini, Richard north Patterson...Leslie Thomas always a laugh...could go on & on...
