PICTURES / IMAGES
This is probably one of the most asked questions - "how do I embed a picture in one of my posts?".
Beau Legg's post is the best to answer (click here).
Unfortunately, the page this links to no longer exists but you can find Beau's 'Idiot Guide' on page 11 of this thread - reply 218
In summary:
- firstly your picture has to be hosted somewhere on the web and accessible with an http:// address, If you can already find it on the web, you don't have to put it anywhere else.
- secondly, In your post use the around the http:// address
Beau's post describes both of the above.
AVATARS
These are akin to Pictures & Images - c.f. Beau's post above - but you need to put the http:// link into the avatar box in your profile ().
Moving avatars: until I can locate the threads which people have already answered - you'll just have to start your own thread to ask.
QUOTING
Quoting () is how you include the text from a previous post.
For exampleobeone said:lininjim said:Is there any way of me changing the fonts on my screen for this site? Some options I just cannot read, no matter how hard I try, unless I get right up to the monitor (specifically the ones under the togs.org banner and the reply type options)
Hold down the control key and wind the wheel thing on your mouse.
Things to know
- you can have multiple quotes from different sources in your post
- you can quote from a different thread
- ensure that your
and
are equally paired.
- put your text AFTER the final
otherwise your text
- you can click on the date/time of the quote to go to the original post
- you can click on the poster's name to get to their profile
- See also click here
URLs - links to websites
The are the http:// links. Usually you can just put them into your posts and the software is clever enough to turn it into a hyperlink that you can press to go to that address.
But sometimes the software isn't clever enough and creates an incomplete hyperlink.
Read this post (click here) to understand what to do.
