Newspapers with alarmist headlines, eg implying you'll have to pay 20% extra now the VAT's gone up, instead of 2½%
OK it's an increase, but £2.50 in every £100 isn't as bad as £20.00

In (and it's actually a 2.12% rise not even 2.5%).
Shops that are then claiming 20% rises are due to VAT - especially on not-VAT items!
