I'm well impressed that I have got 4 votes - I feel like someone out there cares! (please don't all rush to trapmle that warm fuzzy glow just yet eh?)
With ref to the R2 Togs and defecting. I have never felt that I was a defector and like Obe I came here for refuge with the folks I had started to get to know. I have always felt welcome and respected here, even though I came to the site the way I did and I thought that bit didn't matter.
It would be nice if we didn't begin to differentiate between those of you who managed to find this place without going via R2 and those of us who did.

As you have discovered, the togs gave you all a warm welcome when you arrived, and long may it continue.
I think the difference was noticed, when many of the new names obviously knew each other from somewhere else, and all the chat appeared to exclude those already here. It was a bit like coming home and finding someone else wearing your slippers , and commandering the zapper for the tele !!
We do have Togs who used both this site and the R2 site, but we already knew them !
We ARE slowly getting to know you all, and like some of you, we have met in 'real' life and developed lasting friendships.
Very few of you appear to visit the chat room , and seem to use the boards in place of a chat room. Why don't you call into the bar at sometime, and get to know us all better ?
Mines a voddie and lemo by the way, Lily Livered drinks the same as me, and Ivy will have a Remy and the others will have whatever's going
Oooops...... I better shut up, this is rather serious for the forum!

Don't overlook the time of day factor:
Most of the CR banter is in the mid to late evenings, whereas some of the 'board people' indulge their TOGginess during office hours - when the CR is empty but the boards quite active.
Also, if you are not online constantly, or if you're 'boss dodging', you still get the chance for a witty response sometime after the original post was made, whereas you would have missed the moment in the CR. Missing the moment in the CR also applies to less accomplished typists.
At the end of the day (to coin a phrase) it's horses for courses (to coin another) - some people prefer the 'real time' and fantasy of the CR, others are more comfortable on the boards.
Let's not create a CR vs MB split.
Now, what was this thread all about?
Oh yes, I'd also like to nominate Stan/Ian/Roland/Beau (whoever the hell he is at the moment) for the lads and Sharon for the girls.

Appreciate your comments Dax.
I was made welcome from day 1 when the lovely Peek was the first to say hello. There are still quite a few people here I haven’t really spoken to, despite over 5000 posts of total garbage, but I’ve met three fellow TOGS in the flesh now (all wonderful people) and hope to increase that number over time.
As for the chat room, I rarely visit, but that’s only because I’m never too comfortable in places like that and get more out of posting drivel on here. However, subject to the constraints of time, I’ll try and make the odd visit.

Boss dodging? You mean they are all in wo*k and are posting on the boards????
*shocked* whoever would do such a thing? I know a few go into the cr from wo*k at lunchtime and also post on the boards, but that is a lunchtime break, so they are doing it in their own time.
I don't know many accomplished typists who do use the cr, I only type with two fingers, and have to keep looking at the keys, otherwise it would come out somethin like rgus ane wbat royes; never di. Dunno HOW I managed it, but somehow I conquered the speed of the cr !
As you say, horses for courses, I personally like both the courses for the horses. Couldnt create a CR vs MB split, because the majority of us use both !
The time of day factor, does that mean that some people actually have LIVES when they get home from work????
*tries to remember a time when she did, and fails*

But I can't get into the new chatroom from work! Mick even tried to smuggle me special keys but to no avail. I am reduced to a dodgy msn connection these days.

I too am unsure as to whether I could keep up with you all in the CR. However my ancient computer won't allow me to access the CR at home and I couldn't log on it from work. So it's not that I'm being anti-social; I simply haven't an alternative but to post on MB. I am working on the Lord and Master of the house to look at updating our hardware. But you know what these accountant type men are like - won't let go of the purse strings?

I just found my way here from listening to Wogan, but have always felt welcomed despite my single minded mission to eradicate the Daily Mail from the world.
I too have met some Togs in real life and hope to meet more, and to see the ones I've met more often.
I tend to play in both the CR and on the boards as they meet very different purposes. The Boards are excellent for considered discussion or complete nonsense, the CR has its uses too, including talking to people!
Can't admit to using the CR at work, because the fascist reactionaries will start 'going on' about wasting tax payers' money.........
