Part 1
TOMORROW IS TOO LATE
Summoned to the hospital
in the early morning hours
Driving through the empty streets
still wet from earlier showers
Since I'd had the phone call,
I'd been icy cold with fear.
I chose the tape I'd bought that day.
The music loud and clear
Was blasting from the speakers
trying hard to make things right
But God had made his presence felt
with awesome power and might.
If I could call back yesterday
Though that could never be
I'd tell you how I'd loved you
And how much you'd meant to me
I'd ask you to forgive me
For sometimes being a shrew
For all the times we'd disagreed
And made each other blue.
I'd thank you for the child you gave
The miracle of Life.
The thought of what I'll say to him
Cuts through me like a knife.
I'd tell you how I miss you
Every second you're away.
I bend to kiss the once warm lips
And tears get in the way.
I'll never get to say it now
I realise with a sigh
The only thing that's left to say is
'Dearest love..... goodbye'
If you've got any words to say
Then say them now - don't wait
Or you, like me, may wake to find
Tomorrow is too late.
