Grow tomatoes in a pot...you just cannot beat picking and eating, as I've just done!
I recommend Gardeners Delight, an oldie but fab tasting!

*Sighs*....if only I could pick and eat 'em.
However , we did get lots of free tomato plants growing everywhere this year...they must have come up through the compost. I've kept a couple growing on where they started, which should be enough for T5 and tyg. I do love the smell of tomato plants though.

xxx I've just been in my greenhouse picking today's ripe ones. Only about half of them ever reach the kitchen though! The yellow cherry ones are really nice and sweet this year

Greetings Lucy Lastic (and one & all) Finally the little beggars are turning red, in their pots out ont the patio (sounds better than paved area). the two "Beef steaks" are looking both ugly & orange, the two "Marmandes" ditto, the two "money maker's" heavily ladden with pleasingly rounded, large fruits some with a hint of red...as you say just straight from the vine to mouth is the best taste, the smell of the vine, well take or leave it. well its out to cut back the grape vine again else there will be nowhere to sit & read the paper, the sun is shining...Regards Meltemi , the etesian wind.

I have 'sweet million' - red cherry type; sun gold - yellow cherry type and cherry plum tomatoes all with good crops and ripening slower than usual due to lack of sun. I've taken nearly all the leaves off to let them get as much light as possible. the slow ripening at least means I'm not buried in tomatoes all at once as I often am. The ones that don't ripen at all will be made into green tomato chutney. Both the sweet and chilli peppers are slow to turn red too but the cucumbers are doing fine.
