THE ELF
When I was walking to the fair, I saw an elf who wasn't there. She floated forth on gossamer wings and spoke of cabbages and kings. The road, though long ( I didn't care) flew by with ease while she was there. She said 'I'm tired. Let's sit a while' And so we rested on a stile. 'What troubles you ?' she asked of me 'For you are sad, it's plain to see so many troubles in your eyes. Come, share your burden - put me wise' I didn't quite know where to start to tell her I had lost my heart to some unworthy someone who had used me up and left me blue. I spoke no word - she seemed to know and said these words, her eyes aglow 'Don't waste your time on bygone scene, to ponder on what might have been for once it's gone, no song you sing can ever change a single thing. The loss is his - the man's a fool to let go of this precious jewel. You are as then, will always be what he could never hope to be. Although you're feeling torn apart, just trust me, you still have your heart with love to give and words to say. A worthier love will come one day. Hard to believe ? I know that's true but time will tell, I promise you. If I should disappear in air, believe me - I am ALWAYS there. Just search your soul, your 'empty' cup, wish really hard and I'll float up'
As on my brow I felt her kiss, my elf was shrouded in a mist. I called out as she left my scope 'What is your name ?' She answered 'HOPE'
