This made me smile - in wonderment more than anything. We were having a debate at the council recently about alternate bin collections (bear with me a moment) whereby one week the binmen (oops sorry -'refuse operatives') would collect your household waste and the next your garden waste. I pointed out that people just wouldn't have that much 'garden waste' while the household stuff would pile up and attract rats and so on. As we live in the countryside, why not just burn it ? To which I got the retort from a fiercesome lady with a face like a burst cushion who said 'Thats fine for people in big houses, but what about people in flats'. She sat back triumphantly, before I gently pointed out that people in flats don't tend to have gardens. Oh how we laughed...

We have 3 wheelie bins here ....a green topped one, a black topped one and a brown topped one
*sigh*
Green topped one is for paper, cardboard, tins and milk cartons
Brown topped one is for garden waste and glass
Black topped one is for everything else
They get emptied fortnightly, black one one week then green AND brown the following week
We have had the brown topped one for a year and have only needed it emptied twice
Soon we will need another garden JUST to put the wheelie bins in ...

Wheelie Bins...tsk.
Folk round here fill them up to capacity, and then have 3 extra bags on top. They seem to think it's their right to fill 'em up, and don't even think about recycling . I am very proud of myself today (dustbin day), we managed to only put out 1 bag of rubbish...all the rest has gone to recycling.

Our binmen (sorry, refuse operatives) will not empty said wheelie bins if the lid isn't completely shut. Nor will they take ANY extra bags of rubbish
In fact, they really are REFUSE operatives cos they refuse to take everything!

I try and recycle everything that I can so my black bin only goes out when it's needed about once a fortnight or three weeks!
There is also the fact that if Chopper is travelling up to his barge caravan he could stop off and pinch it if I'm not vigilant!

So kind. Its a bit basic but will soon be working like a proper site. I'm waiting for the legal flak to start up anytime soon but I have had great comments from people like Vic Elford (TOG F1 driver and Le Mans winner), Rob Bonnet (BBC) and 'The Times' who have used some of my stuff. Keeps me off the streets..
