What are you growing this year? It's not too late to start. Have you got access to a garden or are you a container man? What else do you like to eat other than chillies? If it can be grown in this country, any home produce will taste better than anything you can buy, as well as being cheaper. Did you eat all the chillies, or did you throw some away? There are ways of preserving them - no waste.

Blimey - I presume you know that you can dry them in the oven or the sun, smoke them in a wok - all of these methods will impart a different flavour when they are eaten. Or make them into the north african harissa paste - guaranteed to put a zing into any soup or stew? They can also be pickled (well, for my taste the less hot varieties) or made into sweet or not so sweet sauce. One thought - when cutting them for a recipe, I always either wear plastic gloves or use scissors to remove the seeds and chop them. That way non of the capsin gets transferred onto my hands.

We dried some as well as froze them. Makes it really easy to crumble them up for use in saucy efforts.

We dried ours too and - with needle and thread - made necklaces which hung in the pantry!
