I've just noticed that Gertrude is beginning to bloom. I've had her for about fifteen years and she never fails to delight. She is a David Austin rose (1986) and has rich, darkish pint, shapely buds that open to a large full flowers in the old fashioned style (Peter Beale catalogue p.37). She makes a very tidy bush but the perfume is most wonderful thing about her. She's a stunner. This is how she looked a few moments ago. What's your favourite rose?

I'm with you Rev, she's tough and deliciously scented, lovely colour too. I also have a great affection for the original Gertrude too, would love to have mey her. Have you seen this painting of her gardening boots - now there is a real gardener!
