But I wanted to show off my clematis (forget the name ) and one of my aquilegia (I don't pretend to be a photographer either by the way).
The clematis is a bit blurred as I was using a close up lens and didn't have my tripod. No I was NOT under the influence of anything.

I'm a numpty in the garden, guess who threw a packet of seed around when we finally sortd it all out last year, and then pulled half the plants out before realising they were not weeds? d'oh, so i now have a few plants on one side coming up , haven't a clue what they are. anyhoo, the 2 clematis that i planted are now going crazy, but only bloom so far - can't wait. so WOW yours are wonderfull, and I really like the other one too. xx

Your clematis is gorgeous Ivy - like Kells I think it is Nelly Moser. and where it is sited is perfect - the contrast between the white and mauve is really strong - put in the wrong place the colours a more insipid. Aquilegias are a mystery to me - except our garden if full of ones that have reverted back to the wild colour, a dark violet/purple, and they are bloomin' (no pun intended) difficult to dig out.

They can be (as they are in our garden) a flipping nuisance Fi! They self seed all over the place and as you say, are difficult to dig out!
Nice pics Ives!

Ives, I think possibly the Clematis is Nelly Moser Or it could be Bees Jubilee? I think Nellie has a narrower stripe, but there are a number of clematis with stipes like that. Whatever - it's a very nice one, but your acquilegia has given a wonderful display. Thanks for showing us. I'm trying to make a collection of acquilegias. Not only are their flowers lovely, but their foliage is pleasant to look at as well. I have some with golden leaves. Why is it, though, that the best ones are the ones I give away to other people (but at least I can get root cuttings back from them).

I love aquilegias and let them self-seed everywhere. They don't just revert, they hybridise so sometimes you get some lovely surprises.

I found the label for my clematis - it is called Carnaby. Of course. As I said, there are lots of them with dark pinkish stripes. Thanks for telling us Ivy.
