Sometime ago I asked about keeping cats of my garden and Bob mentioned a plant called Scaredy Cat.
I managed to find some yesterday and they truly do pong, so I'll keep you posted as to whether they work or not.

I've just planted some in mum's garden as well - so we'll compare notes later!

Quite so, Ava, quite so.
Let me rephrase my suggestion:
Do not attempt to rid your garden of cats using any ballistic device; such an approach would constitute unacceptable inhumanity and cruelty towards an innocent creature ..
I have recently adopted a more enlightened approach - he's called "Ollie" and he likes nothing better than the opportunity to play with his feline counterparts ... and momentarily distract them from the practice of (a) digging holes in my garden, (b) filling them with ammoniacally-scented contents, (c) killing every small bird within reach ...

We may get shot for being flippant on these boards. (but a 12 bore was the PMB's preferred solution) It is, however, the preferred method of dealing with feral cats by pest control companies. unlike poison it's effective, quick and humane. Yet probably the method most likely to cause complaints of inhumane. Odd lot us humans
