I am usually observant, but I can't say that I have ever noticed a photinia in flower, until this year. There are thousands in fower around where I live. Is it me?

I've never seen flowers on it either, but I haven't got room for one, or a hedge of it. It is mainly grown for its bright red leaf tips.

We planted 4 at the bottom the garden, and are growing lovely. I had never noticed them much before either but now I find myself looking into gardens, and recently have noticed some massive ones, and yes with a sort of bloom on. xx

I didn't know what you were talking about... so I looked it up... and found this: -
Key horticultural features Habit – upright, open. H: up to 6m. S: up to 4m.
Leaves – adult foliage is glossy and dark green. Young growth is red. Leaf is simple and lanceolate.
Stem – older growth brown and woody, young growth reddish-brown. Stems are round and smooth.
Flowers - clusters of small, white flowers in mid and late spring, sometimes followed by spherical red fruit.
If you want to look at the whole page it's *here*
