As part of my birthday pressy, this week/ weekend the PML and myself created a just over 2m by 1m veggie plot in the front garden. We've got plants in such as onions, beens, strawberries, garlic, carrots, parsnips, lettuce, aubergine, rhubarb and spinich and loads more to go in when they've got a bit stronger, it looks lovely i can't believe how pleased i am with it.

Wait till you start to eat what you've grown, nothing like picking and eating your own fresh veggies.

Beware the rhubarb. If it is Timperly Early it will probably fill half that in a couple of years.

I'm not trying to put you off, but you do seem to have a heck of a lot for a 2m x 1m plot. The rhubarb and strawberries alone would fill this space. If you grow the beans in a 'wigwam' of canes and netting it will take up less space. Aubergine is better grown in a pot and you can grow lettuce this way too.The carrots, parsnips and spinach can be planted in rows with the onions and garlic planted between these rows. The garlic will help keep the carrot fly away.
Enjoy the results of your efforts, there's nothing like the taste of veg you've grown yourself.

My Father for my birthday, rearranged my garden with a pebble fountain in the middle and bistro tables (ready for sitting and drinking wine - my fav activity in the garden. I had grown herbs from cuttings but were not happy where they were, so sammy the sage has moved down the garden next to rosey the rosemary and are happy! (Honestly I haven't been drinking, must be the sun!!)

great to hear you're garden is doing well as well minnie. I'm following the gardeners world idea of a veggie plot in a 3 x 2 mtr plot so hopefully it will work out. I'll keep you all informed.
