I know I'm being awfully lazy, but I don't know what this pink-flowered shrub is. It's very bravely trying to grow up through a pear tree. Can someone identify it for me, please?
Thank you!

I was going to say that!! But this is an excellent way of finding out names of plants we've forgotten, or never knew what they were called. Thanks for putting the idea into my mind Linda. I think I've got some plants that fellow gardening togs could help me with.

Yes, I have another plant in my front garden I'm struggling to name...I will try and post a picture of it tomorrow.

It looks like quite a large Gela to me! (We pronounce them wee geela down my way)

Thanks, everyone!
I knew the names of the plants in our old garden - I should, I planted a lot of them! But in this garden, which has been ours for almost a year now, there are lots of plants that I've seen before, but never known the names of. So I may well be asking for more IDs as they come into flower!

But I did it from memory... didn't go looking it up!
*giggles* it's a plant who's name will stick with me, coz when I was doing one of my regular rounds of Dad's garden asking him what everything was, he'd told me one shrub was a Japonica... and when I asked about the one next to it, he'd told me.... but had strung his words together a bit.
He laughed when he heard me proudly telling Mum... "that pink one is a Swijeelia!"

funnily enough, i managed to take a photo (faints) of a thing that appeared in my jungle/garden, and wanted to ask what it was, but couldn't figure out how to get in on here - even after looking at the help thingy - so asked middle tyg, and hahaha
she hasn't a clue either. xx
