Someone mentioned on another thread that the rhodies and azeleas were looking good this year. I've notice while driving along (well more accurately, being driven along - more time to look and having a high vehicle I can see over fences!) that gardens are a riot of colour with rhodies and azaleas, the laburnum trees are looking good and it also seems to be a good year for clematis as the first ones have loads of blooms. The Montanas and 'Nellie Mosers' look great. My 'Duchess of Edinburgh' has loads of blooms but, because it's been a bit chilly up here, they haven't turned white yet. I think they look quite good green though.

You are right Lucy, I have Niobe, Madame Boisselot, Mrs James Mason, Lady Betty Balfour and Ascotiensis, they have all gone mad this year and my garden looks fab. I am hoping that I can get a camera soon and will post piccies when I can.

I am hoping that I can get a camera soon and will post piccies when I can. Up in our part of the world it's mainly the Monatas and the Nellie Mosers that have come out so far. I have 'Mme Julia Carrevon', 'Blue Bird', 'Jan Pawel II', and 'Niobe' none of which have flowered yet. I also have a 'General Sikorski' and a 'Warsaw Nike' being sent by a relative as an early birthday present. Don't know where they're going to go - I feel a pergola coming on as PML is refusing to put up any more trellis!!

This is Dr Ruppell - I've had him for 3 years and this is the first year he's flowered. He's presently growing through a Berberis Darwinii.

What lovely pictures. It's hard to believe that these beautiful blooms can cope with all this rain we are having. Sadly my laburnum only had about a dozen racemes on it. As this is a new garden to us, we can only guess by the number of last years dead looking 'bits', that there were many more last year. I will have to wait and see what happens next year.

Maybe you need to trim your bush?
Actually, it's possible that last year's weather has affected this year's flowers. I know that that can be the case with Camelias, it may also be the same with Laburnum.
