I buy lovely big mushrooms for stuffing, however when I cook them in the microwave they fall flat. Tyg says it is because I am doing them in microwave. What do you think?

Suspect he could be right though I must admit I've never tried them that way. I usually bake them as I prefer the texture of of baked or fried mushrooms.

Have you tried putting them around the edge of a plate or even a bowl so that they're supported. I don't know, but it sounds plausable, that they become very flexible when microwaved and change their shape to match their surface.

What do you think? microwaving tends to remove moisture and I find mushrooms dry out unless you cover them in loads of butter after which they go a bit slimy if microwaved, So I think the answer is mushrooms and microwaves don't mix.
Life and time is never too short to prepare food that's going to taste great, even stuffed mushrooms cos all you're doing is slapping some stuff on 'em drizzling with olive oil and sticking them in the oven

Oh, yum! Large field mushrooms, stuffed with mediterranean veg, topped with either goats cheese, or grated mature cheddar - then grilled... served on mixed leaves.

By stuffed do you mean you just fill the inside as I have tried slitting them open to stuff them and they fall apart?
