Checked on the wenb - my library has 3 copies, 2 not on loan! Now, do I risk it or reserve one of them quick?
Any other TOGS near Weston Favell?

Right, here goes, I haven't done this before and feel nervous being the first. I must say that I would have overlooked this book, as it is not the type of fiction which I go for and would pick out something in the thriller or historical line. However, when I first started reading it I thought I am not into this, but found I could not put it down. I liked the way that it was written, in the fact that there was not a lot of 'waffle', and kept me interested in the story. At first I found the anxiety coming from Brian, as an awkward teenager irritating, and wishing he would seek help, but then this became the charm of the story, in that I could relate to him, when it opened up long forgotten teenage memories. The clumsy attempts at trying to be cool, and impress, were funny but sad. A very interesting choice of book which I surprised myself by enjoying. A suitable choice for easy light reading, but also very interesting, how it awoke old memories.

Is there going to be a chatroom discussion tomorrow (04/06) and if so at what time? I loved the book as it was very much of my era: student life in the late 80's. Laughed out loud at some of the lines

Ok folks. We have had our discussion on the book.
The overall verdict was, I think, that it is a book which is suprisingly enjoyable.
Brian is not so much of a likeable hero all the time, and his actions with regard to questions are questionable and not followed up much at the end.
He definitely ended up with the right girl.
Funniest scene? Night-time at the Harbinson's - Brian stoned and Alice's parents in the nude.
A very evocative book - reminded us of the 1980s and, for those who went to University or Polytechnic, a gentle reminder of halcyon days.
Average rating? 7.5 out of 10
