We have at last got our bookSWAP bookshelf set up in the canteen at work + it is also a registered BookCrossing Zone. Every book that is donated is now registered at BookCrossing.com before going out onto the shelf. The response has been absolutely amazing - the books are flying out and we're had so many donations that I can hardly keep up with them. At the moment, Stephen KING is the most favoured author as all his books are out. The bookSWAP idea came from www.worksmart.org.uk/bookswap/ - part of the TUC website. There are bookplates to download and print + a set of guidelines on use of the bookSWAP scheme. I might add that the bookSWAP is part of the Learning Centre, but the company provided the bookshelf. Even the boss has borrowed a couple of books! Does anyone else have such a scheme at work? As it's well worth the effort involved. We don't have a recognised scheme... Just a shelf, tipping over to a box, of donated books. It's like a swap shop, the only 'rule' is that if possible, you donate a book as you take a book. Works well. You can then keep the book, or donate it back.
As I visit various schools and some have the same scheme, I sometimes take one from our school and deposit in another and vica versa!
