Last week I did something I'd wanted to do for a while - I walked from Hinckley in Leicestershire to Coventry along the Ashby and Coventry Canals, a total of 17 miles - and this one was a solo walk very peaceful and a fascinating mix of countryside and industrial history there are some piccies here *here*

Not at all Tigs it's a nice crop - this was one of my favourite parts of the walk because it's where I used to go fishing as a kid

Super photos Smiglet but I have but the one question - you walked to Coventry - Why?
Oh and second question is it rideable?

Carl - it was just one of those walks I wanted to do, you see familiar places from a totally different point of view
And yes it is rideable on a bike, the towpath is in excellent condition all the way from here to Coventry not too sure about heading North on the Ashby canal though

Like the pics - all places I've been (by boat)!
In anyone isn't aware, the pic in the thread is Cash's Hundred Houses. The living accommodation was below and the weaving shed was the top floor (the one with the big windows). There was a line shaft running the entire length of the building.
Reputedly the weavers used to stand by the ladders from their houses up to the weaving shed until the whistle went and then climb up and start work.

Fantastic photo's. Suggest we all meet at the Greyhound.

The Greyhound is a wonderful pub - good food and terrific beer - a possible bash venue in the future.
BTW if anyone choose to view the pictures individually there are some comments on each which you don't get in the slide show view
