I want to thank HD for reminding me how much I like Folk tunes. I was put off them at school by endlessly having to sing a selected few (probably the only ones our teacher could play), among those dreaded ditty's was one about a maid waiting for a Mr Robert Shafto to return from sea and wed her. With the wisdom of age I can now see that she was somewhat naive and my version of the song is probably closer to the reality. So for what it's worth here's my version of that well known song
Bobby Shafto’s gone to sea After Bobby shafted me Left me expecting a baby Randy Bobby Shafto
Bobby Shafto’s still at sea Cos me father’s after he Got his shotgun on his knee For Randy Bobby Shafto
Bobby Shafto’s back on land Father marched us hand in hand To the church that’s in the Strand Randy Bobby Shafto
Bobby goes no more to sea He stays here in bed with me We have children one, two , three Me and Randy Bobby Shafto

I was forced to do that one repeatedly at school as well PZ! If only we'd had your words, it would've been fun!

Thank you for your kind comments. I am tempted to try and remember a few more of the songs we were lumbered with at school and 'update' them if I can
