Colin the little blue three wheeler car,
Spent each day feeling all sad and low.
Of all the cars there in the garage
He alone had nowhere to go.
He was parked in the corner way out of sight
Right up against the back wall.
Each day all the other cars answered their names,
But nodody called him at all.
By nine every morning, five days a week,
He had the place all to himself.
The only person to talk to all day
Was a spider who lived on a shelf.
The spider called Elsie Maria Von Scarf,
Had arrived with the latest new car.
She said that in her previous place
She had been a Wonder Web Star.
She had woven fine webs from bumpers to wheels,
And all around wing mirrors too,
But when all the cars from the garage were sold
She was left with nothing to do.
She's decided to stay with her favourite car
When the new owner took it away.
But with all the cars going out like they did,
She wasn't sure she would stay.
"I wish I could do something else" Colin said,
"Instead of just standing here.
The lady who bought me said she would be back,
But that was sometime last year."
"She told me that I was her own special car,"
Colin said to Elsie one day.
"But she asked the mechanic to stand me on bricks
And then took my battery away."
"You are very special!" Elsie replied,
"And the reason is quite plain to see,
Because where all the other cars all have four wheels,
You only have THREE!"
"And not only that," the spider explained
As she wove a web round a jack.
"Other three wheelers have one wheel in front,
But you have got yours at the back!"
"I thought I was just broken and couldn't be used"
Said Colin, "But now I can see.
That while all the other cars all look the same,
There's no other car looks like me."
:That's right" said the spider from up on her shelf,
"And I think very soon one fine day,
The lady who brought you will come back in here,
Start you up, and drive you away"
"She'll take you away to a house fine and grand
With a garage all to yourself,"
"Why don't you come as well?" suggested the car,
"I'm sure we could find you a shelf."
"That would be quite nice," the spider replied,
"Then that's what we'll do," said the car,
"And who knows, perhaps Elsie Maria Von Scarf
May again be a wonder web star.
