Don’t feel sorry for me, because I can’t see
The birds, and the flowers, and the trees.
I hear birds all around and every other small sound
Brought to my ears by the breeze.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see,
All the things you can find in a book.
The scents of the flowers, I enjoy for hours,
Although I don’t know how they look.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see,
The sun in the sky shinning bright,
Or the moon on it’s way at the end of the day,
When darkness takes over from light.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see,
The trees as we walk through the wood.
Or the Bluebells so blue, or the fresh morning dew,
Though just sometimes I wish that I could.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see,
The children enjoying their play,
I can tell by the sound of them running around,
They are having a wonderful day.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see
The man who just said hello,
He no doubt saw my stick, and moved out the way quick,
Before I could step on his toe.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see,
The shops with their large swinging doors,
When it’s safe to go through, my dog knows what to do,
He just taps my foot with his paws.
Don’t feel sorry for me, because I can’t see
The buses, and cars, going by.
Or the Mum sipping tea, with a child on her knee,
I see them all in my minds eye.
Don’t feel sorry for me because I can’t see
You sitting there in your chair,
Though I may not convey, these words every day.
It’s lovely to know you are there.
