I love this time of year as the trees are thinning a bit and you can see the birds a little more clearly.
So when you are out on your next walk - stop and have a little moment.
Often if you stop walking - whatever bird that may have just darted out of sight will pop out again and you can see some real treats.
I did today and saw to partridgey things, a tiny owl on some disused farm equipement, two kestrels and a lovely robin.
I didn't see the Kingfishers today but I will have another moment tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed!
If I have had a bad or busy day, it is nice to reflect on life and enjoy a boring Dunnock or two!
;D

How right you are Sharon. We really enjoyed our Sunday walk by the river at Henley, Phil took some great pics of Grebe and Cormorants as well as the usual waterfowl that are noisily asking for their breakfast - all framed by the wonderful autumn colours

Quite right! It's a beautiful day up here clear blue sky, white frothy sea. A glad to be alive day. The only trouble is its sooooo cold even the beach is frozen. I didn't hang around for long in case I'd stuck to it! My dog is made of sterner stuff he's been surfing as usual. I did manage to see a flock of gold finches but that was from the car. There were about 80 of them all told. I hope they don't get to my garden the nijer [spelling?!] seed would be gone in no time.

What is this life if full of care
We have no time to stand and stare?
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep, or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this, if full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Taking a moment is all part of why I prefer mountain biking to road riding. Sometimes I find myself in places where nature just grabs me by the wrist and makes me take notice of its beauty. The last nuthatch I saw was while I was out on a ride - and in a gorgeous spot when the leaves were just starting to turn. I feel sorry for anyone whose life doesn't have time for such moments; they're missing out.
