I must recommend everything that Marian Keyes has written. I haven't read a dud chapter yet!
I'm just started the fourth book (although not in order!) of a set that each concentrates on one of the daughters of an Irish family and their love lives/working lives/family life. Hilarious at times, and also able to induce wracking sobs, (NOT good on the bus!), I have to say, I am hooked!
Recommends: The Other Side of the Story, Anybody Out There?, Angel and Watermelon.
And I've fallen in love with all of the male characters, so it's doing it's job. ;D

Working Wonders by Jenny Colgan is fantastic. It might be chick lit but it has a bloke as the main character is not as 'pink'. 'shopping', 'relationshipy' as most chick lit.

I love them all - I think my favourite was Rachel's Holiday. I love the way you get to know the whole family book by book. Her parents are just crackers, particularly their lovely mum.

Freya North is good. Especially her ones on the sisters, Cat is one of them that I can remember and is based on the Tour De France. Marian Keyes, I also love aswell as Monica McInerney. If you want an older chic lit, then if you can get it there I would recomend Liz Byrski. She is an Aussie author and writes about friendships and stuff! A couple of her titles are: Food, Sex and Money, Belly Dancng for Beginners and Gang of Four. I know I had to post them over to mum before she got here, but you amy be able to get them somewhere!

I think I shall be hunting all these titles down! I'm reading all my books far too quickly! ;D
Recently I've been reading Sophie Kinsella, and I cannot put her books down. Nearly missed my stop this morning on the train! Just absolutely hilarious. I'm reading the Shopaholic range at the moment, (Shopaholic Ties the Knot, and Shopaholic & Baby) but Can You Keep a Secret? and Remember Me? were both brilliant.
I just can't get enough of these books and I know there are more Marian Keyes ones for me to read too. If anyone else can recommend authors in the same vein, I'm all ears! ;D

Monica McInerneys The Alphabet Sisters. Please read it! It is a lovely story, and a real tear jerker!
