WHAT DOES SANTA DO ALL YEAR
Have you ever thought what Santa does
When Christmas time has gone?
Do you think he sits there resting
‘Till the next one comes along?
The first week after Christmas
He sleeps and has a rest
Knowing that on Christmas Eve
He did his very best
He goes away on holiday
Just him and Mrs. Clause
They go to see the different sights
And walk round all the stores.
Santa looks at lots and lots
Of games and dolls and toys.
To see what he can give next time
To all the girls and boys.
His reindeer have a nice rest too
And so do all his elves,
Knowing that it won’t be long
Before they start to fill the shelves.
With all the toys that Santa Clause
Has brought back from his trip
Like little dolls and teddy bears
And a special sailing ship.
When all those toys are packed away
And stored upon the shelves,
Santa has a little meeting
With all his ‘special’ elves.
They are the ones who make the toys
That Santa couldn’t buy,
Such as a model farmyard
With pigs inside a sty.
Battleships and aeroplanes
And dolly’s houses too,
The elves are all kept busy
With such a lot to do.
They have to make so many toys
For all the boys and girls,
Like model railway engines,
And dolls with lots of curls.
When all these toys are finished
And neatly packed away,
The elves all have a few weeks off
And go on holiday.
They know it won’t be very long,
Till the letters start to come,
All addressed to Santa Clause
Who reads them one by one.
He makes a note of what they say
And who each one is from,
A skipping rope for Lisa
A cricket bat for Tom.
He hands the list to Elgo
Who with all the other elves,
Checks the list, and start to get,
The toys down from the shelves.
Any toys they haven’t got
Will now have to be made,
So the list goes to the workshop,
To head carpenter Vil Cade.
He checks the list, then checks supplies,
To see if there’s enough,
Of everything that they will need
To make all this new stuff.
Special things that can’t be made
Like racing cars and bikes
Will all be bought by Mrs. Clause,
It’s the part she really likes.
No one knows just who she is
As she walks around the stores,
I don’t suppose anyone thought
There was a Mrs. Clause.
Early morning Christmas Eve,
The lists are all complete.
Then Santa starts to pack his sleigh
With sacks all round his feet.
He has a map of where to go,
His reindeer are all fed
But doesn’t leave till he makes sure
All children are in bed.
For homes without a chimney
He has a special way
Of making sure all gifts and toys
Are there on Christmas day.
Any food or drink left out
Gets put in a special sack,
Then his reindeer, him and all his elves
Have a good meal when he gets back.
