PMS, thinks that buying a Microwave oven which, also, combines as a conventional oven and grill, sounds like a good idea. I have reservations, and wonder whether it is better to stick with just a normal microwave. Has anyone had, or have, a combination microwave, and were or are, you pleased with it?

I have one that has the grill incorporated and have used the grill facility less than 5 times in 10 years. My friend had one that had a facility for crisping the underside of pizzas but stopped using that 'feature' after about 12 months.
I guess as usual it is horses for courses but not sure how you fully evaluate how you will use it.

Love mine to bits! It is a Sony I think, and this one is the second that I have had, newer model than the last.

I have a combination microwave, I mainly use it for the microwave bit, but I do find having the extra convection oven useful when I'm cooking for more people, amongst other things roast potatoes come up very well IMHO.
I haven't used the grill an awful lot, tyg uses it more when he's doing bacon for a quick sandwich.
Mine's a Panasonic , had it about 3 years, and never had a problem with it.

I've got one and I wouldn't be parted from it. Perfect baked potatoes in 25 minutes, succulent chicken in 45 minutes - it cooks to perfection just about everything which is best with a crisp outer and a soft and succulent inside. My only complaint is that the door has to stay closed when grilling - but that;s a minor inconvenience comparted with the advantages. Mine's a Neff, but I've no idea if it's superior to other brands - we got a very good deal when we bought a new kitchen, which meant that the price wasn't prohibitive.

I have had my Sanyo Micro/Convection/Grill for 12 years and it's still going strong. I used to use it every day when I was working back in the U.K. I found it invaluable along with the slow cooker for having a meal on the table in no time.
Since we retired to France and are living on our shrinking pensions, I have become more conscious of the energy we use and my microwave sends the electricity metre whizzing around. Now I use it for defrosting mostly. It has produced amazingly fast roasts and grills so I cannot fault it except of course it does use a lot of electricity.
My electric kettle has also been banned to the attic and I have reverted to one that my nanna use to have that sits on the gas hob Though unlike hers it's bright red enamel.
