I promised photos of the changes in the back garden - here they are.
Pepper in bloom:
Lilacs still putting on a good display:
Peppers, tomatoes, onions etc:
New rose bush is doing very well indeed - the other one isn't sprouting anywhere near as much, but is finally putting out some leaves:
This little plant is called 'Carnivale' and has multi-coloured blooms all on the same plant. It spreads well and flowers profusely:
My flower/vegetable beds - onions and carrots at the top in the back, with peas and beans in the last two planters, a honeysuckle that still looks like dead twigs after six weeks and may not do anything but will get a good chance, glads, dahlias, a sunflower or two. There are clematis and a climbing rose in the planters, as well as a willow. The near ends of the beds are planted with summer bedding plants, the lower bed at the back is full of assorted flower seedlings at the minute. My aim is to transplant some of them into other beds and planters when they get bigger:
Fuchsias and another Carnivale:
Strawberry and onion bed, nasturtium seedlings sprouting up here and there:
Various things in the planters: a poppy; lavender; some white-blossoming tree that gets big white flowers later in summer; box; begonias nearest the path:
Next project will be to sort out the grass. At the moment I have planters with various vegetables in on the edge of the path at either side, just sitting on the grass. We're planning on digging out the existing grass and putting down new, but what I think I will do is leave a long bed either side of the path into which next year the tomatoes and peppers and peas and beans can go.
The irrigation system needs rebuilding; unfortunately that is just going to have to wait, unless I can figure it out in short order by myself, as the Hippy will be away for at least a couple of weeks as of tomorrow morning. He's in charge of technical stuff!
