We have a mess of baby sparrows. Blackbirds gathering and flying back to nests so we expect big fat baby blackbirds soon but this morning it fair bought a tear to my eye as the mum and dad Mistle Thrush bought two huge chicks to the garden for soaked currants!
What a racket but they were so beautiful and BIG!
I have had the adult pair visiting since late last year and feel proud to be helping them raise the chicks!!
;D

Awww, I have to share this with you Shaz, we have a pair of wood pigeons that visit us ( we call them Mr and Mrs Vicar), and today young master Vicar came into the garden with his Dad . It's the first time we've seen a young WP , we know the collared doves have had babies over the past couple of years but, for some reason, they never bring their young down. But young Mr V was trailing round after his Dad just to see what was what and where the best food spots were.
It's so lovely to see the young birds come down for the first time, I just hope they survive the cut and thrust of everyday life.

I am still desperately trying to get a picture of Mr Cardinal - he was sat sitting on the rubber tree earlier, but as he is the same colour as the new leaf buds and about that size, I missed him!

We've just had a chicken turn up proudly leading her day old brood - the first of this year. Unfortunately she was daft enough to lead them into the garden and one of them was picked up by one of our dogs - Wogan. He'd never hurt anything, but the poor little chick was wet through by the time he handed it over. Still, it did rejoin its mum and the rest of the brood, so hopefully it dried off and will thrive. Our hens are very tough - descended from all the best hens in the neighbourhood - so it should be OK.

This little one's Mum built her nest under the covered back way about 4ft from our back door - today the 4 chicks fledged, but this one got a bit muddled as to where he should be going:

The electricity cables to the "Estate" pass about 8 feet from my bedroom window. Every year pairs of sleek aduly swallows perch there with their recent offspring. Scruffy little sods they are.
Typical kids.. Whatever! (Think Catherine Tate)
I can't photograph them for laughing
