Today would have been my mums birthday.
She died a year last April. I miss her, we didn't always get on (a bit of an understatement!) but we became good friends in the last few years of her life.
My dad misses her more than I think he lets on.
I am off to visit him later with a big bunch of flowers.

Thank you all - I feel much brighter today. I went to see my pa and took a big bunch of flowers round so that we can enjoy them for longer than just leaving them at the garden of rest. He seemed perky enough (I do believe he had forgotten the date!!)

I lost my Mum in 1991. As the years have passed I find that I don't really mark the date she passed, but I do love to have flowers in the house to mark her birthday.
Her ashes are interred in Cardiff, 300 miles from me, so to have flowers in my house for us all to enjoy and think of her (though I truly think of her each day) does seem sensible.
Mum loved Christmas so I often buy a seaonal bouquet at this time of year too.
A lovely post Sharon, thank you for sharing.
