Deadly has asked me to thank everyone who has organised a quiz for him this year to raise funds for BBC Children in Need.
We don't have the exact total raised, but he thinks it's in excess of £10,000 alTOGether. Most respectable!
He hopes to continue travelling the country with his quizzes in 2010, but won't be doing any until after Easter, so if anyone would like to volunteer, please pm me for information.
Thank you.

Well done to everyone - and special thanks to Deadly for giving up his time so generously to come and drink other peoples Pinot

Just goes to show what a bit of effort can do when raising money for charity. In a similar vein there is a tube station round the corner to the park where I live and for the couple of weeks leading up to Armistice Sunday a little old guy stood outside all day selling poppies and he seemingly took over £4000 just by himself. He wasn't a famous celebrity or anybody important, just a little old guy with a poppy tray and a row of medals. Like I say, just goes to show. Well done to everybody involved in all the quizzes too for their hard work.

I have not been at one of Deadly's Famous Quizzes yet, I hope to rectify that in 2010.

Dora, what a great effort by Deadly and his Manager As both Leni & I know a chest can be very useful when collecting for charity!

I think that considering Deadly hosts quizzes other than with TOGs (totals of which weren't included, of course) and that he travels from one end of the country to the other, mostly at his own expense and always in his own time, he should be applauded. Not that he'd thank me for saying so!

I certainly agree Deadly should be applauded for his quiz work. I'm constanly amazed that he rushes hither and yon and I've never once seen him show any sign of weariness or be on anything other than top form. I know it's his brilliant rapport with the quizzers here that brought them back and has had some requesting tickets for 2010 even though I don't even have a date for the quiz yet! The man is a genuine star.

Neither Deadly or the veteran stood with his poppy tin are working for a charity - both are volunteering their time, one to use his expertise in working a room the other to hold a collecting tin.

It can be quite hard work, but enjoyable too. Maybe you'd like to volunteer to organise one? Would love to. Me and the gang usually gather round a big bonfire on Hackney Marshes this time of the year. Just to blether on and quaff a few flagons of scrumpy (diamond white for the girls). Drop in any Friday night and you can ask all the questions you wish. Don't bother dressing up, it's all informal. Just call in at the Offie on the way and bring a fish crate to sit on.
