I've just had to re-tune my DVD player as we have had a new aerial installed.
I know I have done it before, but who hid the menu button? I had to press every bloomin' button to find the right settings section to install my new channels (none of which I shall watch).
Problem is, now I have used it, and installed them, which button did I use again?

When we had our analogue service switched off, I had to rescan the digibox which was very old, having been donated to us by Tyg2 when he opted for Sky instead. After the retuning, I could not get any BBC channel except CBeebies (I think it was). After a great deal of research I found that this was because the box did not have a "Digital Tick". I quickly drew the missing tick on it with a felt tip pen but id didn't make any difference. In a panic, I rushed out and bought the Which best buy Freeview PVR. This got all the channels but had an impenetrable instruction book. Also much of the behaviour was quite illogical until I had found out how to download a software upgrade.
I worked with technology for almost my whole working life. How do those more inept than me ever cope with getting new things to work?

Ironically, one of the aerial guys can't get digital TV at all, unless he builds a huge mast, to which his fellow villagers may well object.
As for you Dougal, the PMH has been known to pick up the telephone to try to change channels. He went upstairs a week or so ago to watch the end of a football match. He then had to shout downstairs to ask me how you got the TV off standby.
I may well let him back downstairs when I have stopped laughing.

My mum rang up the shop the she had recently bought a TV from as she couldn't get it to work. She was irked when they told her to try changing the batteries in the remote - and it worked! In her time she has also returned two strimmers and a lawn mower, before finding out that the extension lead had blown a fuse.

PMS only takes over the remote after I have set the telly up for him. *sighs and wonders where she has been going wrong all these years*

I must confess, that though I am capable in many ways, the PMMS controls the remote cos it's not supposed to fly.

I have been called in by neighbours occasionally to retune tellys, teach 'em how to use remotes, etc. I generally reckon if I need to consult the instructions (step 3 on my list of IT fixes) then the operation isn't intuitive.
Once I still couldn't figure out how to set a video timer even after reading the instructions - that machine went back!
