Some good stuff here, I like the first one especially.
As to stained glass, I've not tried but would possibly look for a day of white cloud (not grey) as this will give some light but not be direct sun.
I'm tempted to try a long exposure with an ND filter, but will try at home with some gels and a lamp first.

Lighting seems to be the key for stained glass. One of these days I'll manage to set some lighting up on the one at Church in the dark to see if I can get a pic that way (there's so many trees that it always looks flat normally).
I like the 3rd from last pic - the lighting is fantastic and the framing works well.

Thank you for your comments. I inadvertently posted the same photo twice at the end and don't know how to change it. This is the shot that should have been included. [/img]

I like the first and third from last, I have found stained glass difficult to do unless the lighting is right and you can use a tripod as more often than not exposures are quite long. I did these last year in Koblenz and tried to steady the camera as best I could but out of quite a few hand held shots these were the best

Had the opportunity to spend an hour or so at Winchester Cathedral over the weekend and remembered the discussion about stained glass - mine attempts can be found below. It would seem that Flickr no longer allow photos to be posted into bulletin boards, so the link to the set is: www.flickr.com/photos/rayb_uk/sets/72157624556038041/(Flickr claim to be working on a "solution" to the "problem". I'd suggest putting things back the way they were...)
