... annoyed by the slow motion close ups of the players faces during a match at Wimbledon?
If the can't use slow mo properly, i.e. to show action shots that viewers might miss, then someone please take the toy away from whoever is controling it

Yes, I agree it is annoying - in fact the whole "editing" (or whatever it is called) of the views we see is annoying. There are too many lingering close up shots of people in the crowd - I fear sometimes of what we may be about to witness!
It's as if they try to cram too much in what with re-runs of shots, and then different statistics (ie. how many aces, how many double faults, where exactly the served balls are falling in relation to the court layout, etc) all because they have the technology to do this. All we really want to watch is the whole court from the higher level camera so we can see the tennis. I don't want a lingering view up Murray's left nostril.

I turned the TV off during the run up to Murray - Nadal match - maybe the over dramatised rubbish was meant to heighten the tension in the TV audience, but all it did for me was to press the "why the hades can't the BBC stop wasting licence money with crass rubbish most suited to low end tabloids" button. Far better to have used the money to get McEnroe doing the commentary (he was "working for the Americans" yesterday - and if it wasn't enough money, get rid of the likes of Henman, Sue Barker and other dull and unimaginative people (Becker is a welcome exception), who belong to the only mention the bleedin' obvious school of commentary. Maybe that's why they need the statistics - it gives them something to say and thus justify their presence.

The statistics I can put up with, they are at least about the player and his or her game. But close up slow mo shots of players faces often make them look like they are sat on the toilet straining to serve something other than a tennis ball. It does nothing to enhance the game in any way

I hadn't actually noticed anything Paul, but it could be something to do with the BBC trying out 3D tv on Wimbledon this year.

It's bad enough with all the head turning from side to side - player to player, without having to duck when a 3D ace comes at you! Although if it was in slow-mow you would have a couple of seconds extra to get behind the settee ;D

You'd want to put your breakables out of the way wouldn't you?
