YOU TOLD ME
You told me if I waited ~ he would come
But how I scorned your words and shook my head
And said ~T'would take some man, me to succumb
And let another lover in my bed.
But come he did out of a clear blue sky
His eyes the same rich blue looked into mine.
No hopes or expectations then had I
Until I kissed those lips of potent wine
And I was lost upon a sea of dreams,
Sensations through my body running rife
For in that instant, looking back it seems
I'd waited for this man all of my life.
Our mornings spent exploring thoughts and minds
Our afternoons locked in a warm embrace
The nights brought splendour of a different kind
While flick'ring candlelight played on his face
Showing passion well to match my own.
Sweet whispered words were uttered oh so soon
And realisation dawned ~ our minds were blown
When laughter died and love crept in the room.
Our minds awakened to the days ahead
Each moment we would cram with heart's desire.
We retraced all the things we'd done and said
And knew we'd lit an everlasting fire.
And now he's gone, as quickly as he came
Across the world into another hemisphere
And on my lips ~ the whisper of his name
Until he comes again to find me here.
Believe I must, the words he said were true
That he, too, feels this pain that crushes me
And soon, under another sky of blue
He'll hold me in his arms where I should be.
