This is not my holiday place but a place I love to holiday as you will see below.
It's quiet and friendly, people can't do enough for you etc. All the cliche phrases work here.
Where the present Mrs. Mattaytersup and I stay is 3/4 of the way down the left hand side of Corfu, on a sandy beach, good for children, just below Ag. Georgios, 33 km from Corfu Town but not as far down as Kavos.
We stay at Dasia Apartments which are family run by Spiros and Maria. They are clean and fresh with air-con. The usual bedroom/bathroom/cooking area (only used for breakfast) and a balcony. Only 300 yards to the sandy beach which has two tavernas. Our favourite is Santa Barbara. 2 sunbeds and an umbrella hire about 6 euros a days
We usually eat in the evening at Barbados Tarverna. It's only 30 yards from and almost opposite Dasia and even Deadly Allencoat could stagger that distance. We love their local sweet red wine but that's just our choice. Here you will love Sofia's cooking and Kostas dancing with a jug of flowers on his head. He says he has a flat head - Sofia sees to that. You will find Spiros here too, behind the bar and just mention Olympiakos to become a special friend.
All we do is ring Spiros and then book our flights. Closer to travelling, we call Spiros again and he arranges for a taxi or hire car to be waiting at the airport. It's that easy.
We used to think that people who went to the same place on holiday were daft. Now we've found Dasia, we've been 5 times. It really is that good. If you want Spiros's phone number or some pics of the place, please email me: john@ace-signs.co.uk
Thanks for reading and now go and see!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug we stayed in Ipsos and whilst we liked Corfu I'm not sure I'd just ring a stranger there to organise staying. Where exactly is it - 3/4 of the way down don't give a lot away!Do they not have a website for people to book? Do they rent through a tour company? How did you find it?
A bit more info needed I think!

hi Doug, we must have met in Kostas/Spiros this year without knowing it. We flew out on the 1st June and managed 17 days this year, our 6th or 7th year i think. we generally are with a couple called paul and karen, you may have met them, it was their 15th year this year. We stay with Themis at villa rossa now, turn right after Barbados, and i am hoping for another week in Sept, must check on my shoe shrine at the end of the beach! maybe see you there?

Hi Jacklondon. Yes we must have seen you. Highlight this was Kostas at Barbados dancing with a huge jug of flowers on his head (again) and drinking Mythos on the beach (also again). Also Sofia's cooking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see they have spent some money where the beach meets the road, looks nicer. Also noticed how Kostas and Lakis (?) at Santa Barbara have lashed out on their taverna with the new floor and the glass doors etc.
Would be good to go back in Sept. We'll see. Kind regards. Doug.

To anybody with interest reading this who would like a gorgeous, chilled out, beautifull holiday, please dont come cos you will ruin it for doug and i, et al. Only joking,!!! if you would like any info, between us i think we could answer all questions. its a fantastic place, that not too many people know about! Jack

Hello
For people with no automobile is it an easy place to explore? And a taxi from the airport would it cost more then the flight to corfu?
Many thanks

Hello Mrs. D. Sorry not to log on and reply before.
I think the taxi from the airport was 25 euros when we tried it 3 years ago, but email Spiros and he will tell you. He will arrange a local taxi to collect you from the airport (sometimes shared so cheaper) and they will know where to bring you. Taxi drivers at the airport often look blank if you say Maltas. Perivoli they know but still 1 mile away.
As for easy to explore, well there are a lot of tracks you can walk along and you can walk northwards on the beach to Agios Georgios 3/4 to 1 mile up. There is Perivoli as a traditional village to see and the green buses run from Corfu town through Perivoli to Kavos according to the timetable, even on Sunday. You can walk from Perivoli to the east coast of the island maybe 1 hour from the maltas beach and here you get great views across to mainland Greece.
You can walk up to Perivoli, then north to Marathias and turn left (west) and walk down the lane that takes you back to maltas beach but on the other side of the river, maybe 3 miles round. Lots of good tavernas around to try. They seem to exist all over with minimal customers but are often just round the corner as you walk. Bike hire is also available.
Again just email or call Spiros and he can tell you all. Hope you go. You will love it I think.

JUST GOT BACK FROM OUR 3RD VISIT IN 12MONTHS. WENT WITH SUNVIL LAST SEPTEMBER FOR 3 WEEKS,THEN IN MAY STAYED AT TASIA WITH SPIROS & MARIA FOR 2 WEEKS. THIS AUGUST STAYED AT VILLA MARIA WITH KOSTAS & MARIA.EVERYONE IS SO FRIENDLY .THERE ARE MANY NICE WALKS AROUND PERIVOLI,IN MAY WE WALKED TO THE VILLAGE ARGIRADES AND ALSO ALONG THE BEACH AND UP THE CLIFF SIDE TO AGIOS GEORGIOS, NICE WALK INTO MARATHIAS,MANY WALKS THROUGH THE OLIVE GROVES. I AGREE SOFIA'S COOKING IS THE BEST,THATS WHY YOU HAVE TO WALK SO MUCH! ALTHOUGH IN AUGUST IT IS TO HOT TO WALK TO FAR. LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR.
