Togstone goes to the reunion
Part One – Togstone reminisces
As Togstone walked down the tightly bound alley into Avenstone avenue, he contemplated onto the days of his youth, when like many young men of the period he would go and play cricket with the old Billaby boys down at the rotary club and get intoxicated on Aunt Maggie’s slightly alcoholic cider.
For today was a very special one for Togstone, as he would like many members of then Billaby boys would be meeting up for a reunion at the old drinking hole. There Togstone would reunite with his old school chum, Walter de Lubbe, currently the world’s foremost expert on being an old git amongst other things of slight interest.
And as he approached ‘The Old Hag’ public house, he was reminded of the summer of 1953, where he as a fifteen year old young whippersnapper, Togstone spent his days down at the lake near Mr. McNally’s cabin. Spending hours upon hours with the chaps debating amongst each other about current affairs and other intellectual subjects. 1953 was also a special year for Togstone, for this was the year that he met his beloved Beatrice and fell hopelessly in love with her and although she was no longer around to see his day of glory, he knew that some where she was watching him, smiling like she use to and giving him the satisfaction in his heart that he misses so much.
As he stepped inside the pub he was greeted by faces from past and present and a smile lightens up his face, he was home.
