Yesterday was the Open Day for our local Horticultural Society in Leigh and today I feel totally inadequate. The four gardens that I went to see were fabulous and the vast vats of Pimms served moved the day along with alacrity.
I saw the Camellia in Howard & Joy's garden which wasn't growing until the team from Gardeners Question Time came to see it and discovered a large plastic bag tangled in its roots! Howard is an artist and Joy is the gardener, their garden is beautiful.
I do wish that one day mine would be good enough but i just don't have time to do all that needs to be done. How does everyone find the time to spend out in the garden? I can do the watering at 5.00am but think that the neighbours might moan if I start cutting the grass at that time...

I would like to publicise a forthcoming open day in aid of charity that is happening this month. The Broughton and Bretton allotments are opening through the National Garden Scheme yellow book scheme on Sunday, July 22nd. I am the Secretary of Broughton, Bretton & Area Allotment Association. The allotments are situated close to British Aerospace/Airbus in Broughton, near Chester.
We are holding an Open Day in association with the NGS on Sunday, July 22nd from 2 ‘til 8pm. These Open Days are in aid of Charity. 75% of all money raised will go to the NGS, the other 25% that is raised will be donated to a charity of our choosing. We have decided to donate our proceeds to BIRD a local charity for Brain Injuries.
Entry is £3 for adults and free for children. Teas, coffees and cakes will also be available. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
