Yesterday I had to replace the expensive plants in the window box in the front whilst the cheap ones are flourishing... grrr.
Still I have a rather nice Coleus, two bright pink pelargoniums, some pale pink fuschias and something whose name I cannot remember.
But still miffed with my expensive petunias not doing as well as the others

I know what you mean OB, my cheapo plants from B & Q are thriving much more than the expensive ones from the garden centre. I seem to remember that a few years ago we were encouraged to only buy the F1 petunias ( is that right, F1?), as the ordinary ones had suffered some kind of disease and did not survive very long at all...but I don't think that's so anymore.

Old Bean I agree with you! I have tried to grow Coleus as I can still see colours, alas no luck! I think the reason maybe I thought they were a indoor plant! Maybe that is where I went wrong. Love TT xxxx

I bought 2 plastic thingys of petunias in Tesco in early spring - reduced to 50p for the two because they looked nearly dead. I managed to revive them and they grew on till I could put them in tubs. They are now flourishing and a beautiful rich purple. Others I paid full price for are Ok but not nearly as big.

Lucy - my cheapo ones came from Tesco and were at least half the price less and they are the ones that are blooming there little hearts out!
TT - they use coleus in parks round where I live, so I am hopeful that this one will make it through the summer.
Spent yesterday morning cutting the grass and deadheading... the garden looks so pretty from the kitchen window now (bit like running the hoover round the house) except for the bindweed that my neighbour appears to be growing on a commercial basis!
** wonders if she could stand on a ladder and spray terminal amounts of glycosate over the fence**
