Hi all I do buy from Thompson & Morgan (other nurseries available), I just wondered what you all thought of the quality of the plants and bulbs you send for? Love TT xxxx

Yes Terri I have and *touch wood* anything I've ordered has been fine.
I particularly recommend a lettuce from Kings...called Warpath, we've been growing it for years and it's the only place we can get it now.

It's great to pick leaves from when young, it's both crisp and 'leafy' if that makes sense and lasts a while before it bolts. Oh yes, it really does taste like lettuce rather than water!!!

Hi Lily Thanks for your reply. I must admit most of my flowers/bulbs I have had no trouble with. Only one I was very disappointed in the Lemon Peoiny. I wish it would have flowered I have some lovely red peoniys that a friend gave me and they are wonderful! Love TT xxxx

Anything that I have bought from Thompson & Morgan and similar reputable nurseries has been excellent. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with mail order plants.

If you want cheap and very good quality annuals then try a company called Gardening Direct. We have used them for 3 or 4 years and they are excellent . DO NOT use J Parker as they are very cr*p

J Parkers are all right for bulbs, we've had quite a few "free" lillies from them and they've all done well. As Rose said, they're just a bit cr*p when it come to live plants.

have mixed feelings about T&Ms. Some seedlings have been terrific, others have been so badly packaged that keeping them alive was a major challenge. David Austin is great for bare root roses, as well as ones in pots.

Try Cocker's of Aberdeen: www.roses.uk.com/Mind you, it's probably easier for you to pop in, Fi, since it's just down the road from you (well .. sort of)

They do what it says on the label and those that have come bare rooted are always high quality, well packaged and have grown on well. He also keeps a huge variety of old roses, whereas Cockers are mostly known for their modern hybrids. On top of which I've had a couple of run ins with Cockers, when they have refused to replace plants (not roses) which have died due to fundamental problems - in one instance the lack of a root system!
