Yesterday saw me in my daughters garden, with grantyg Jessica 5. We were playing schools, and as I was engaged in a game of tag at playtime, I espied a bindweed which had climbed up a conifer. It had really taken hold and was flowering profusely.
As I started to pull it down, Jess cried out in alarm, "Nanny what are you doing? I like those beautiful, white flowers". What could I do, but leave it there.

I agree with your grantyg Janglers! Bindweed romps through my garden, it climbs all over the blackthorn bush that I hang the birdfeeder from. It's very good at pretending not to be there until it's too late, but I must admit I do like the flowers and I think the bees enjoy them too. So, I let it go until it gets too far out of control then I take out as much as I can. happy days Rose

Hi Janglers Yes, what can you say to a remark like that! I do admit the flowers do look lovely but it is a real pain! I try to remove it before it gets to that stage. If I do miss some then I do wait for the flowers to die! Love TT xxxx

we used to call the flowers 'granny pop out of bed' because if you pick the flower and squeeze it at the bottom it pops out of the pod.

oh yes and of course the dandelion clocks, and daisey chains....oh so many beautiful flowers when you are young.
Oh and don't forget to hold a buttercup under your chin to see if you like butter.

Yes, as a child, Buttercups are fun but as an adult and a gardener you quickly find that they are - a creep.
