I had to share this with you all as I'm so thrilled that the PMD'G and I won 2 'Silver Gilt' Awards in our local 'In Bloom' competition, the results of which were announced at a very splendid buffet last night. We first entered our (small) back garden in the 'Plantsman Back Garden category' 3 years ago and won Bronze; then last year won Silver; now Silver Gilt! - We thought we might not get anything at all this year as there were over 500 entries for that category alone. This was the very first time we have entered our Front Garden (again in the Plantsman category) so you can imagine our delight. (Not the winning, you understand: just the taking part ............ if you believe that ......) If I could master the 'clicky' thing I'd show you some photo's! Anyway, hope you'll be pleased for us & please join us in a glass of Champers to celebrate. (And to anyone who says "Gold next year" ... I somehow don't think so!

Ive already apologised to DG for being slow getting round to this and now I'm having problems inserting images in the text because Google is *expletive deleted* argiung that it doesn't have permission to access the site. However However, if you want to see some of DG's back garden, which is gorgeous, this is the place to go.
Evidence of DG's and the PMDG's labours in making the new front garden can be found here.
If you go to picasaweb.google.com/Dancingirl.hawkeyed/FrontGardenSilverGiltAward you’ll see the results of that labour. It looks lovely now, as well as being low maintenance, but I bet it will look even better about 5 years from now as the planting matures. So well done DG - here's to a gold in the future!

I'm pleased that my front garden finally won a gold award in the Bracknell in Bloom competition; I got a silver last year. However, this is not nearly such a grand achievement as that of Dancing Girl because everyone who entered got a certificate. I don't know how many golds there were but certainly there were several.

Thanks Rev. Many congratulations on your Gold Award. And your nice garden looks so neat and clean. I love your clever use of so many different grasses against the grey slade. You have worked hard and deserve your silver/gilt. Mine is more of a country garden feel - with loads of different plants crammed in - with the colours not always blending in with each other.
