they've got my baby aubergine, i tried to guard it diligently but they've got it in the end. It's just not fair, and now the weather is too cold for the other ones to grow any more. i hate slugs and snails! *sobs*

Have you tried the copper rings or copper tape? It causes a mild shock as they pass over it so they don't. The tape is sold at many garden centres but I think you would get it cheaper at craft outlets on the internet as it looks the same as the stuff they sell for making your own leaded glass. Or, as I suggested earlier on, if you have a scrap metal merchant nearby you may be able to get some copper strip at scrap cost to form into protective barriers around your courgettes though you will have to wait until next year.

i'm going to invest in some copper carl, i've discovered the bu99ers in my animal feed bin this morning as well so it's WAR! i really must have a chat with the frogs and toads in the pond i thought they were supposed to be the natural killer of slugs and snails
