Does this plot close down for the winter or do we just talk quietly amongst ourselves till the season starts again?

Does this plot close down for the winter or do we just talk quietly amongst ourselves till the season starts again? My dear, dear Sir. Things in the garden continue in the Winter. Sometimes the winter garden is very lovely - e.g. when snow has fallen my garden looks just as neat as everyone else's. But I'm looking forward to my Viburnum farreri and my Lonicera frangrantissima booming, not to mention the early snowdrops and then the crocuses and other bulbs and corms. It's a delightful time of the year. I always count the number of plants flowing in my garden on Christmas Day - the highest number for 58 and the lowest around 20. But of course, for those who live north of the icy border in Scotland then I suppose it might close down for the winter.

But you count EVERYTHING Michael. Actually I don't think I've numbered all the hairs of my head (I leave that for God to do). Come to think about it - it shouldn't take him too long. But, dear Ivy, you seem to have my number!

But of course, for those who live north of the icy border in Scotland then I suppose it might close down for the winter. I would suggest, my dear, dear, Reverend, that there are many things which will survive a winter in my garden but would give up the ghost when faced with the icy blasts in Bracknell. Take, for example, dahlia tubers ..

Can't wait for the contorted hazel, Corylus contorta, to drop it's leaves (ugly) to reveal it's beautiful stems & the promise of spring, the catkin buds...

That's it the last of the sand, cement, paving slabs brick pavoirs & all that. . 130 paving slabs & 100 bricks laid. The last of their grouting done. Swept, scrubbed & even the memsahib said the look simply "Ok". At last more time on me hands, the paper, the coffee, the ouzo, the cake (GF) & me pile of electronic wrap is working well. Several works of art in progress. All is well with my world. No further incidents with Cyd. All of the tomatoes are now frozen sauce. The 10litres of wine will soon be ready to bottle. Cheers over & out for the winter.

As long as I can still grow lettuce on the windowsill (in pots of course I'm not daft ), there will be gardening in winter!
