Next week I have to buy a retirement present for a lady who is a very keen gardener and flower arranger. One of the suggestions is a plant with a very nice pot.
Now, it seems she loves white and green flowers.
What could I buy that is happy in a pot, the flowers are white or green, can grow in the South East and available now?
I have collected about £80 for the gift - so, any ideas or suggestions please..........!

How about a Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata'? The flowers open to show white petals and the scent in January - February is gorgeous. It's not fully hardy like many other Daphne species and therefore is best grown in a pot, so that it can be moved indoors during the winter months. The glorious fragrance fills a house.
Since you've got quite a lot of money to spend, you might also like to consider a Hippeastrum/Amarillys. They may not have any scent, but the flowers are glorious, especially if they are grown in trios in one pot. Hippeastrum Jewel' is particularly lovely - the flowers are not totally white, with a bit of yellow at the base of the petals.

You could do worse than a Philadelphus (Mock Orange) as well - very scented white flowers.
