I know this has been touched on in another thread, but I have a problem with the Rosemary. I have a variety that has long stalks for bar-b-queing (you can skewer your veggies and meat onto it and it infuses flavour). Well, it always had a lovely shape but recently it seems to have got heavy and is now looking ugly like it is falling apart!
Do I prune it back? If so, how do I 'keep' some of the herb so I have a supply?

I have a similar variety grown in several large containers...gritty sandy compost full sun (what is that?). Through the year the side shoots get used for flavouring. The stiff straight stems for the Summer barbies. In late summer at least two pots are decimated to a short stump. Some compost & roots chipped out replacing with fresh gritty compost. The remainder are left for Winter use. By the late Autumn they have grown a forrest of lovely straight stems, some 25cm long and ready for next Summer...well I can dream. Next summer the others will get decimated and so on...
