A very good idea Mo.
When we get off and running properly we will have a thread, probably stickied, called 'A good read'. People can make recommendations.
We can also have threads on particular books. In these we can discuss things about other books. This wil be useful as, as everyone likes different things, some people will dislike other people's favourites (I hate the 'Lord of the Rings' books, for instance)

Being an avid but not a quick reader. I tend to stick with same authors and type because I know I will enjoy them but it would be nice to try other authors.

If this is not the place to make recommendations please slap me over the wrists.
But I think the Ladies No.1 Detective Agency books are a really good read. They are brilliant and simply written by an academic who understands African village life and people in general. I've almost finished the newest one to come out. Thanks Andrew Lloyd-Webber - em, sorry Alexander McCall Smith Perhaps I like them because I spent a formative part on my life in Kenya - in the Army doing my National Service in 1954-55.
